The Discipleship Class
Discipleship class weekly Zoom link:
The Discipleship Sunday School class is over 50 years old with a long history of emphasis on studies of the Bible using commentaries by renowned Biblical scholars.
In addition, topical studies are used that relate to Biblical insights such as the acclaimed book “Making Sense of the Bible” by Adam Hamilton. The class is currently studying 1st and 2nd Samuel.
The class is taught by a cadre of teachers on a rotating basis in a setting that encourages discussion. Teachers typically pause periodically in their presentation to solicit input.
In this setting, there is a conscious effort to involve the class with the subject matter and with other class members.
There is always a time for the joys and concerns of class members as well as anyone mentioned by a class member. New members are encouraged to come unannounced to class that normally meets at 9:00 am on Sunday morning using the Zoom format during Covid times.
Contact Judy Cagle for further information about the class and how to get to class on zoom. Her email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Carrick Class
March 7, 2021 Carrick Class Zoom Link:
The Carrick Class is named in memory of Rev. Samuel Carrick who was not only the first president of Blount Colllege which was to become the University of Tennessee but also was the first pastor of what was to become First Presbyterian Church Knoxville.
We study current events, social issues, historical topics, and last and certainly not least scripture. We are blessed to have a variety of people who either lead discussion or teach.
We have class members across six decades and we welcome and respect all opinions.
We love visitors and suggestions for topics to discuss and study. We are currently studying: A Glad Obedience – Why and What We Sing, by Walter Brueggemann
Our classroom is located in room Heritage #3.
During the pandemic we are meeting via Zoom each Sunday at 9:00 am. The link can be found each Thursday in the Newsletter.
