What’s the Worth of Worship? During the summer, our three primary worship leaders will do a series on the nature of Presbyterian worship – what we do and why. William Pender, Paul Rader, and Ashley Burell will lead this series, beginning on Sunday, June 9, in the chapel during the Sunday school hour (through August 11). 2013 Vacation Bible School
Everyone is invited to come to the fair this year! “What fair?” you may ask. The “Everywhere Fun Fair!!!” This year’s Vacation Bible School will be held June 3rd through June 6th. All kids: baby through youth will learn how to be good neighbors while exploring stories from the Bible and learning about a few of our Global Neighbors through story, craft, recreation, and experiments. Adults will learn about how we are neighborly through our missions with some very special guests. Each night will start with kid-friendly dinner at 5:30pm. Programs will start at 6pm and wrap up at 8pm. We are still looking for adult helpers. Keep an eye out for more details in the Turnip Patch Times, website, and around the church! Fighting Turnips Co-Ed Softball
The Fighting Turnips Co-Ed Softball Team will begin playing on Monday, April 15.
Games will be played at Caswell Park, 620 Winona Street, Knoxville, 37917.
Entry fee for all fans is $1.00, which not only gets you into the game, but you also get either a free popcorn or bottle of water.
Directions to Caswell Park: On I-40, take Hall of Fame exit. Head south on Hall of Fame Dr.; turn left onto Fifth Ave.; turn left onto Winona Ave.; ballpark will be on the right.

ADULT WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS APRIL 3 – MAY 8, 2013
The book of Leviticus provides much of the background for the teachings of Rabbic Judaism, the Roman Catholic Church (on certain subjects), and of Jesus himself. This six-week series will offer an overview of Leviticus, an exploration of some of its major themes, and a detailed look at what is known as “the holiness code.” This class will be led by Paul Rader.
The proverb “Know Thyself” is a theme from both ancient Egypt and ancient Greece. Benjamin Franklin noted: “There are three things extremely hard, Steel, a Diamond, and to know one’s self.” In this Wednesday night series, we will use the Myers-Brigg Personality typology to reflect on how our knowledge of self is part of our spiritual journey (there will be the opportunity to take a personality inventory). This class will be led by William Pender.
“The Law of Love Lessons from the Pages of Deuteronomy” by Beth Moore is a lecture study with a workbook to be completed in class. Beth will take us on a scenic tour, not verse by verse, of Deuteronomy with 6 stops.Our goal is to discover the book of Deuteronomy, entirely the words of Moses, so dramatically that our lives will never be the same.
Class begins promptly at 6:00 pm! The cost of the workbook is $10. This class will be led by Pam Teague.
Book Club (aka Rader’s Readers)
The Book Club (aka Rader’s Readers) will meet on Sunday, April 21st from 4-5 p.m. at the Buckingham Retirement Community Club House, 7303 Manderly Way, 37909, near Shannondale. The book that will be discussed is I’ll Fly Away by Wally Lamb. For several years, 
Wally Lamb, the author of two of the most beloved novels of our time, has run a writing workshop at the York Correctional Institution, Connecticut’s only maximum-security prison for women. With I’ll Fly Away, Lamb offers readers a new volume of intimate pieces from the York work shop. Dr. Paul Rader facilitates and the discussions are lively and informative. For May, the book is In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larsen, who has been widely acclaimed as a master of narrative non-fiction, and in his new book, the best-selling author turns his hand to a remarkable story set during Hitler’s rise to power. The time is 1933, the place, Berlin, when William E. Dodd becomes America’s first ambassador to Hitler’s Germany in a year that proved to be a turning point in history.
