This class is more academic in nature and will follow a discussion-based format. It is open to all ages and will cover a variety of topics, chosen by participants and leaders, in an open and inclusive atmosphere. Study material is chosen from denominational resources, the Wired Word, the Thoughtful Christian and resources determined by the class participants. All are encouraged to attend these lively discussions of faith, life, and contemporary Christian issues. There is a new topic every week, which means you will not be “lost” if you are new or cannot attend a class.
The New Horizons Class will meet with the Carrick Class during the construction and renovation project.
Beginning on June 5th, for the summer, the New Horizons Class will join in a study on Barbara Brown Taylor’s book, An Altar in the World. Each Sunday will focus on Scripture and particular faith practices-very physical orientations to vision, to living in our “skins,” to the experience of pain, etc. The class will meet in the James Park Classroom and be led by Pastors William Pender and Meredith Loftis.
