Celebrating Mark Pace

After a decade of faithful service, Mark Pace has announced his plans to retire as Organist/Choirmaster of the church at the end of July. For ten years, Mark has led our music ministry with exceptional talent, deep dedication, and a heart for faithful worship. His gifts as a musician, director, and accompanist have enriched our choir, handbell choirs, and entire congregation – helping to shape countless services, liturgical seasons, and sacred moments. We give thanks to God for the many ways Mark has led, served, and inspired us.

As we prepare to celebrate Mark’s ministry and wish him well in retirement, the Personnel & Administration Committee is actively working on a plan for the months ahead. This includes making arrangements for interim leadership and initiating a process for identifying our next Organist/Choirmaster. We enter this time of transition with trust in the One who provides. As we are reminded each time we step into our sanctuary, God is Jehovah-jireh – the Lord who will provide – and we know that God has plans for our church, our music ministry, and all who lead and participate in it.

Please join us in praying for Mark and Tracy in this next chapter and for our church as we faithfully discern the way forward.

A Grateful Farewell from Mark Pace

It has been a true joy to serve as your organist and music director over the past ten years at First Presbyterian Church. Across my 39-year career as a full-time music director and organist, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to hold just three positions—each one alongside wonderful ministers and staff. My time here has been so meaningful, thanks to a fantastic Adult Choir, dedicated handbell ringers, and many wonderful children.

Still, I’ve begun to sense that it’s time for a new chapter. As many of you know, Tracy retired at the end of this school year. After much reflection, I feel now is the right moment to step into a new adventure and turn the page in the Book of Life. With that in mind, my last day at First Presbyterian will be July 31st.

Thank you all so much for your support of the music ministry. I am confident it will continue to thrive long after I’m gone and bless this congregation in the years ahead.
