Presbyterian Women Welcome Church Women United for a Day of Fellowship and Prayer at First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church was excited to host Church Women United on Friday, March 6, welcoming approximately 50 women for a day of fellowship, learning, and prayer. On display at the registration table was a new Presbyterian Women banner representing all the circles of First Presbyterian. Created by skilled quilter Linn Acree, the beautiful banner made its inaugural appearance at the gathering.
‍‍
Stitched into the white cloth surrounding the design are words that reflect the devoted discipleship of Presbyterian Women, including service, mission, witness, and bond. Plans are underway to find a permanent place in the church where the banner can be displayed for all to enjoy.

After sharing delicious food prepared by members of the circles, participants gathered in the sanctuary for the program. Ann Myers welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with prayer, while Jean Mayer served as pianist. Because March 6 was the National Day of Prayer, the program focused on learning about the country of Nigeria, including its history, culture, and ongoing challenges.

Several women, including First Presbyterian’s Jane Armstrong, offered presentations portraying women living in Nigeria, helping those gathered pray more specifically for the situations they described.
‍‍
After the meeting, many guests visited the Mission Market, which Colleen Shannon graciously opened with a beautiful display of items inside the shop and along tables in the hallway.

It was a special day of fellowship, learning, and shared faith with sisters in Christ from churches across the Knoxville area.
