Inclusive Audio at First Presbyterian: Listen Everywhere with Ease

Enhancing Accessibility with Assistive Listening

At First Presbyterian, we believe that everyone should be able to fully participate in worship, learning, and community events—regardless of hearing ability. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a church‑wide Assistive Listening System (ALS) powered by Listen Technologies’ Wi‑Fi streaming solution.

Why Assistive Listening Matters

  • Inclusive Worship
Nearly 466 million people worldwide experience some degree of hearing loss. Traditional sound systems—while delivering great audio for most—can leave these guests straining to follow sermons, music, and announcements.

  • Improved Engagement
An ALS transmits audio directly to personal listening devices (headphones, hearing aids, cochlear implants), cutting away background noise and ensuring crystal‑clear sound.

  • Easy & Flexible
Rather than borrowing specialized headsets, guests simply download the free ListenWIFI app on their smartphone or tablet and connect over Wi‑Fi.

How It Works

  1. Audio Capture
Depending on where you are, the Assisted Listening System connects to our main audio console or room‑specific sound system via a small streaming box.

  2. Wi‑Fi Broadcast
Audio is sent over the church’s secure wireless network.

  3. Listener Connection
Users open the ListenWIFI app, select “First Presbyterian,” and listen through their own headphones or hearing aids.

  4. Seamless Experience
No extra equipment to check out—just reliable, on‑demand audio at your fingertips.

Where You’ll Find It

  • Sanctuary
Integrated directly into the sanctuary’s audio console and network switch. Ideal for large services, concerts, and special events.

  • James Park Room
Connected to the existing AV system and building Wi‑Fi. Perfect for presentations, classes, and meetings.

  • Heritage A Room
Connected to the existing AV system and building Wi‑Fi. Ideal for presentations, smaller classes and meetings.
