The MLK Memorial Tribute Service will be held on Monday, January 19, from noon to 2 pm at Overcoming Believers Church (211 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville). Organized by the MLK Commemorative Commission, this year’s theme is “One community, One purpose, One dream: A call to action.”
This annual service is an important opportunity for our community to pause, remember, and recommit ourselves to the work Dr. King called us toward, the work of justice, reconciliation, and the dignity of every person. It brings together people from across Knoxville to honor leaders who are making a difference, to listen, to learn, and to be reminded that this work is ongoing and shared, and that it reflects the kind of love, justice, and faithfulness God calls us to live out in the world.
The service will recognize local community leaders and feature a special keynote speaker. Our Associate Pastor, Meredith Loftis, will offer the invocation as we gather in prayer and reflection for our city.
