First Presbyterian featured on the Cover of American Organist Magazine
We’re excited to share that First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville was recently featured on the cover of American Organist, a national publication that highlights significant organs, musicians, and congregations across the country. Being selected for the cover is a meaningful recognition of our church’s musical life and the care we give to worship.
The article reflects on our long history in downtown Knoxville and tells the story of the thoughtful rebuilding of our organ. It traces how the 1963 Casavant instrument was carefully reimagined to better fit our sanctuary and support congregational singing, choir, and worship, while preserving the best of what already existed.
The result is an instrument that speaks with greater warmth, balance, and clarity, and one that will continue to serve our congregation for decades to come. We’re grateful for the many people who contributed their expertise and care to this project, and for the role music continues to play in shaping our worship together.
