First Presbyterian Women Come Together for Faith, Mission, and Connection at Fall Retreat

Nine women represented First Presbyterian Church at the Presbyterian Women of the The Presbytery of East Tennessee PCUSA Fall Spiritual Retreat on October 24 at the John Knox Center.

The retreat featured two important presentations: “200 Years of Presbyterian Women,” led by the Rev. Cathy Meyer, moderator of the Presbytery of East Tennessee and pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga; and “Celebrating 75+ Years of Mission Haven,” presented by Aleathea Harris-Little, Ed.S., of Nashville, Tennessee State Representative for Mission Haven.

The women put their faith into action through generous gifts of service and support! Attendees donated 94 pairs of eyeglasses to accompany retired mission co-worker Frank Dimmock on a relief trip to South Sudan in November. They also contributed more than $1,000 to Mission Haven, which provides housing for mission co-workers while they are in the United States.

Presbyterian Women in seven states, including Tennessee, are the primary funders of Mission Haven and have a longstanding commitment to supporting global missions.

The important retreat highlighted the ongoing mission and ministry of Presbyterian Women and their continued support of mission co-workers around the world.
