Honoring Sandra Robinson: Faithful Service in the Navy

In 1982, Sandra Robinson answered the call to serve her country by joining the United States Navy. She began her service as a postal clerk and was stationed at Naval Air Station Keflavik in Iceland—a place as beautiful as it was challenging. There, Sandra worked in the base post office, ensuring that vital mail and packages reached service members stationed far from home.
Her days included driving mail trucks through blinding Icelandic snowstorms to deliver letters to Navy and Air Force personnel—making sure that every sailor and airman received news from loved ones, even in the harshest conditions. For those stationed so far from home, the mail she delivered became a true lifeline—something that lifted spirits and kept connections strong across the miles.
Among her favorite memories from her time in Iceland was a special seasonal duty—responding to letters addressed to Santa Claus at the Naval base. Sandra and her team took joy in bringing smiles to children’s faces, spreading Christmas cheer from their North Atlantic outpost.
During her time overseas, Sandra married a fellow Navy service member, and together they welcomed a child while stationed in Iceland. After two years of service, she and her family returned home to Tennessee.
Today, we celebrate Sandra’s service and the care and perseverance she showed during her time in the Navy. Thank you, Sandra, for your courage, your kindness, and your service!
