Some of the people who attended the 2025 Congo Mission Network Conference at Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church and Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, AL Oct. 23-25
Colleen Shannon, Kathy Tallent, Sherri Allison and Kelly Norrell represented First Presbyterian at the 2025 Congo Mission Network Conference in Tuscaloosa, AL Oct. 23-25, joining partners from across the US and the globe. Many others joined via Zoom.
Attendees grappled with topics including:
the church’s response to brutality and war, especially the conflict that has killed millions in Eastern Congo.
programs serving vulnerable children and young adults.
updates on the evolving global engagement strategy of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A).
practical updates on fund transfer tools for supporting mission partners.
legacy of three pioneering Presbyterian missionaries to Congo—Rev. William Sheppard, Rev. Samuel Lapsley, and Maria Fearing.
It was good to hear first hand reports, to be with our brothers and sisters on the ground in Congo, and to engage with partners who, like our church, work to help them.
