Meet Our New Youth Director Abby Prevost!
We are excited to welcome Abby Prevost as our new Youth Director at First Presbyterian Church. Abby brings with her a deep love for God, a passion for walking alongside young people, and a faith shaped by both joy and mystery. She says her favorite thing about God is His sacred mysteries—the truth that we will never have all the answers, yet we are constantly invited to discover His mercy and love. As a hospital chaplain for over three years, Abby has witnessed how God meets people in life’s most vulnerable moments, even in the sacred mystery of death. That awareness of His presence and provision in every circumstance shapes the way she approaches youth ministry, seeing it too as a holy invitation to walk with young people as they wrestle with big questions about faith and identity in the world.
Abby especially loves the way youth approach faith with fresh eyes, asking hard questions without fear and seeing things in ways that adults sometimes overlook. She believes their inquisitiveness and openness are among the greatest gifts God gives the church, reminding us that young people often carry the deepest wisdom because they are not yet calloused by the world. For her, journeying with youth in their questions and discoveries is both humbling and inspiring, a reminder of God’s constant presence and invitation to grow.
Originally from Columbus, Mississippi, Abby was ordained in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 2017 after formative years in her own youth group shaped her call to ministry. She holds a Bachelor’s in Human Services and Sociology from Bethel University, a Youth Ministry certificate from the Center for Youth Ministry Training, and a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary. Before moving to Knoxville in 2023, she served as Associate Pastor of Christian Education at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church while also working as a hospice chaplain. Now living in Powell with her dog Sadie, Abby loves game nights of Rummikub and spending time with her family—especially her three nieces and three nephews, who are the joy of her life.
We are so thankful for Abby’s faith, wisdom, and perspective, and we warmly welcome her to First Presbyterian Church!
