Why Storytelling Matters: Abby Prevost's Story at Worshipful Wednesday

On December 10th, Worshipful Wednesday was a memorable evening of storytelling, and we are grateful for the way our church family gathered to listen, reflect, and be encouraged. Through their stories, we were reminded that God is at work in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of our lives at First Presbyterian.

Our storytellers, Sherry Corden, Chuck Morris, Luke Sowards, Gary Anderson, Abby Prevost, and Katie Norrell, each shared brief reflections that spoke to growth, resilience, and the steady presence of God along the way. Together, their voices created a powerful picture of how faith is lived out across generations and experiences within our congregation.

Abby Prevost shared a joyful and honest reflection on her first semester with our youth at First Presbyterian Church, offering a glimpse into both the fun and the deep, formational work happening among this group. Through stories of campouts, shared meals, games, worship, and weekly “Lows and Highs,” she highlighted the trust, care, and authenticity these young people show one another. Abby reminded us that beneath the laughter and chaos is a community learning how to listen, encourage, pray, and walk together in faith, made possible by a congregation that truly invests in its youth. We encourage you to read the full text of Abby’s offering and watch the video with the photos she shared in the links below to experience this season through her eyes.

In the coming weeks, we will feature each storyteller’s reflection in our newsletter so that the wider congregation can continue to engage with these stories and the faith they reveal.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to those who shared so openly. We look forward to continuing this practice of storytelling and listening together.
