"At the Table Together: Listening Across Difference" Begins Wednesday, October 14

Join us for a new four-week Worshipful Wednesday series exploring how we can listen with grace, navigate disagreements, and build stronger relationships across our differences.

Beginning Wednesday, October 14, we will begin "At the Table Together: Listening Across Difference", a four-week study based on the book I Think You're Wrong (But I'm Listening), by Beth Silvers and Sarah Stewart Holland. Dinner is at 5:30 pm, the program will begin at 6:30 pm in the James Park room.

In a time when political and cultural differences often divide communities, this series invites us to consider how our Christian faith can shape the way we engage with people who see the world differently. Rather than avoiding difficult conversations or trying to win arguments, participants will explore how curiosity, humility, grace, and genuine listening can help us better understand one another.

Throughout the series, we'll reflect on how our identities and values influence our perspectives, why disagreement doesn't have to lead to division, and how we can remain in relationship with others even when we don't see eye to eye.

Here's what we'll explore together:

  • October 14 | Why We Should Talk Politics: How our identities, experiences, and values shape what we believe, and consider how faith can help put politics in its proper place.

  • October 21 | Grace Before Agreement: Learning to ask better questions, listen with curiosity, and approach difficult conversations with humility and respect.

  • November 4 | Living with Complexity: Recognizing that not every issue has an easy answer and learning to be comfortable with different perspectives.

  • November 11 | Staying at the Table: Finding ways to move beyond division, engage with people who think differently, and maintain relationships even when we disagree.

We'll take a break on October 28 for Trunk or Treat, then return November 4 and wrap up the series on November 11.

Copies of I Think You're Wrong (But I'm Listening) are available for $10, and you can pay for your book online using the payment link.

Whether you love a good conversation about challenging topics or would rather avoid them altogether, we hope you'll join us. This is a chance to learn from one another, grow in our faith, and practice the kind of listening and understanding that helps build a stronger community.
