First Presbyterian member and Knoxville historian Jack Neely will be the featured speaker for Blount Mansion’s Centennial Anniversary Lecture Series on Thursday, October 15, presenting “The Road to Knoxville.”
Jack will explore Knoxville in the 1790s, its connections to the Revolutionary War, and the people who helped shape the young city and state. Knoxville’s earliest residents came from a wide variety of backgrounds, bringing different cultures, places of origin, religious traditions, experiences, and perspectives to the developing community.
The lecture will look at some of these early Knoxvillians and the different paths that brought them together to create a city and a state.
The lecture begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Blount Mansion Visitors Center, 200 West Hill Avenue. Limited free parking is available onsite, and a $10 donation is suggested at the door.
To attend, RSVP to Info@BlountMansion.org.
