Save the Date: An Evening with Kate Bowler

Mark your calendar for a special evening with Kate Bowler, five-time New York Times bestselling author, award-winning podcast host, and Associate Professor of American Religious History at Duke University.

Kate studies the cultural stories we tell ourselves about success, suffering, and whether we are capable of change. After being unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV cancer at age 35, she began writing with remarkable honesty, warmth, and humor about what happens when life does not unfold according to plan.

She is the author of Everything Happens for a Reason (and Other Lies I’ve Loved), No Cure for Being Human, Good Enough, and The Lives We Actually Have. Her latest book, Joyful Anyway, explores the surprising nature of joy and how we can experience it even in seasons when happiness feels out of reach.

Kate also hosts the award-winning "Everything Happens" podcast, where she talks with guests such as Malcolm Gladwell and Beth Moore about what they have learned through life’s most difficult and unexpected moments.

We look forward to welcoming Kate to First Presbyterian for an evening of thoughtful conversation, humor, honesty, and hope. Save the date, and watch for more details coming soon!
