Sweet Treats that Support Global Farmers - Purchase Dates and Pecans from the Mission Market

A Sweet Treat for Your Next Party!

If you've been in a First Fellowship group with Bill and Ann Myers, you've undoubtedly been treated to Bill's specialty served as an appetizer or a light dessert.

Bill says, " The Equal Exchange Palestinian Medjool Dates from the FPC Mission Market are the best I’ve found. I remove the pits and then fill each date with cream cheese. Finally top off each one with a pecan half, which you can also get from the Mission Market. And that’s it — almost embarrassingly simple!"

Simply delicious we say! And your purchase supports Palestinian date farmers as well as Black pecan farmers from southwest Georgia. Although prices may rise in the fall, currently the Medjool dates sell for $14.50 (17.6 oz box) and $8 for an 8 oz. bag of large, unsalted pecans.

The Mission Market is located on the second floor of First Presbyterian, near the Commons area, James Park Classroom, and the Fellowship Hall. You can shop on Sundays from 9:30-10:50 a.m., or other days by appointment. Contact: Colleen Shannon, bakhom@earthlink.net.
