Flourish in Faith - the Flower Guild Shares Their Story at Worshipful Wednesday

What a joy it was to gather for “Flourish”, a special evening presented by our Flower Guild at Worshipful Wednesday on August 27, 2025. Together we learned about their history that dates back to the 1970s at First Presbyterian, and the stories, faith, and prayers that go into the beautiful flowers that adorn our sanctuary each week. A big thank you to Holli Rogers for leading the presentation, to Nancy Kelly White for her beautiful demonstration on arranging flowers, and to all who attended and celebrated this ministry with us.

Every week, our sanctuary is transformed by the hands and hearts of the Flower Guild. But their work is about more than arranging flowers—it is a ministry that shapes sacred space, tells the story of the liturgical year, and helps us experience the beauty of worship.

Their presentation gave us a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of this ministry, showing how the Flower Guild weaves together our church’s history, the heritage of the Presbyterian Church, scripture, and the seasons of the church in their designs—from the thoughtful choice of colors and textures to the deeper spiritual meaning that blossoms through their work. In all of this, they witness to God’s faithfulness—not only through the beauty they create, but also through the community they have built, the way they support the church, and the depth and beauty they bring to our worship.

We are grateful for Holli, Nancy, and all members of the Flower Guild who bring such artistry and creativity to our worship space each week. Their ministry helps us see our sanctuary in new ways and experience the presence of God through the gift of beauty.
