Senior Spotlight: Casper Pleasant
Youth member Casper Pleasant, son of Virginia and Martin Pleasant, is graduating from South Doyle High School this May. This fall, he will attend East Tennessee State University to study Exercise Science, building on a strong interest in health and the human body.
Casper runs regularly, works on cars, plays video games, and values time with the people he's close to. And if you didn’t know, he’s a big fan of spicy food.
Those who know him well describe him as optimistic, proactive, and empathetic — someone who communicates well, is a loyal friend, and knows how to make people laugh. One of the key influences in Casper’s life was an older friend who, as a senior, encouraged him as a freshman to start running and to push beyond what he thought he could do. That kind of encouragement has stayed with him and continues to shape how he approaches challenges.
Some of his favorite memories from youth group are Youth Sunday and playing Fish Bowl — moments he remembers for the laughter and the connection they brought. In his faith, he finds God most present in prayer and in time spent with people he loves.
What stands out most to Casper about Christ is his radical approach to forgiveness. That example has shaped how Casper sees the world and treats others, choosing love, generosity, and grace over holding onto wrongs.
Lately, what’s been bringing him the most joy is simply being around his close friends, especially Max, going for a run, and enjoying the everyday moments as he looks towards graduation and the next season of life.
We’re thankful for Casper and the steady presence, humor, and care he has brought to the youth group, and are so excited about his future!
